Mom was picking up some meds for the grandparents at the pharmacy in Ralphs, and I convinced her to buy some ice cream. =D I picked out the French Vanilla cuhs we had some in France and it was really nice, but this really isn't quite it.

So today Steven and I planned to go biking at the beach! =D I also tried inviting Khang (who was too lazy), David (who just had his bike stolen the week before), Tiffany (who had Dance practice), and Jennifer (who ... was in New Jersey), but it ended up just being us lol. We met up at North, and neither of us knew how to get there, so we just kept going west, so naturally we got lost, and had to turn to Steven's GPS thing on his iPhone lol.

One hour later, we finally caught a glimpse of the sea.

We were pretty much dead by then, and we just happened to find a Pinkberry on the way down, so we went in and grabbed some. It was ridiculously expensive. But the yogurt guy was cute. In an awkward way, of course lol. (:

Some time later, we finally hit the sand. Yaaaay.

And after we reached the end of the bike trail and hit the Manhattan Beach Pier, we went over and checked out the aquarium since I've never been in there.

... And then we spent another hour fumbling around with Steven's iPhone to get us home hahah. We celebrated with slurpees at a 7-11. (:

Mom and I went to pick up my portfolio and get my final grade for art at the usual time. After giving each student their work back, Ms. Malone was individually talking to each person -- some critique, if they intended to pursue art, so on. I got there a little earlier and a small line of people formed behind me, but when she got to me she said that she wanted to talk to me about something and dealt with the other people first. So you can imagine I was a little excited/nervous. When she finally got to me, she said she wanted to keep one of my works as examples, and I was like, thrilled, since all the examples she had up for show were always really good. Like, as in so good it made you think why bother. So I was pretty honored and all. And then I realized she wanted my abstract piece. And I was like "O_O NOT THAT ONE NOT THAT ONE ..." and of course she flips to the abstract piece and wants that one lol. So I gave it to her after taking a picture of it first lol. I mean, it's not like I was really going to do anything with it anyway.

And then Mom and I went to 99 Ranch Market and on the way home, I was leafing through my portfolio and realized she took my black and whites boots sketch too. And I was like "... OMG. SHE GOT TWO FOR ONE. ):" And after a long debate, we went back to get it LOL.

Shit. Today was the last actual day we would be working on our drawings in class; tomorrow we're just basically showing up to pick up our drawings, so it definitely threw me for a loop when Ms. Malone announced the guidelines for our final drawing. ... Uhm, what? You mean, the abstract drawing wasn't our final-final drawing? Oh shit. Because I was absolutely positive it was (I am positive you said it was too!) and didn't bring any more paper. Also, I forgot my clip. And a post-it to write my name on. Well I'm just all over the place today aren't I. D:

Anyhow, I managed to finish my abstract drawing by 8pm (good thing I worked on it with Dad this afternoon; I was a bit disappointed I had to have him help me out with brightening up the coloring, but I guess I can take some comfort out of the thought that it was still completely my composition); I'm actually really pleased with how this one turned out! I made the hand a sort of tree in the end, with leaves sprouting out of the fingers and an apple balanced on top, and it actually turned out to be quite different from what I had in mind at the beginning; like, I didn't get to fill up the background with all sorts of miscellanies, but I still managed to connect everything in a more structured way. Anyhow, I like it. (: But that only left me one hour to draw my last drawing; I guess the point of that one was to incorporate one of the color schemes Malone provided us with, and I just choose to use warm colors; it was a really messy quick sketch, but idek. Still think it's good enough to get me the A lol.

Andy and Ken went out to eat tonight, and I guess Ken gave him the souvenir he got for me from Japan then. It's cute; too bad my phone doesn't even have a little loop thing for charms though. ):

Okay, here we go! This is the final drawing I'm going to have to do. Ms. Malone gave us the option of doing a realistic or abstract drawing, though you can tell the whole point of the assignment was to do something abstract, so I figured why not. I considered a lot of compositions; a picture inside a silhouette, a luminatii-esque "Return-To-Sender" type drawing ... But then I realized what would be most appropriate was to do one of my collage-like drawings, where I start out with a few solid centerpiece images, and just keep building around them, adding whatever comes to mind. I wanted a hand doing the peace sign as my centerpiece for this. (:

y halo thar Pat. In two days, I will never see you again. ):

Went with the parents to Kang Kang or whatever that place is called. It was good and I was full. I am never going to lose weight at this rate. ):

So today was the first time I legitimately felt like I was cheating or something in this class. Seriously, Dad helped me out so much on this drawing; and it's not like I "wanted-wanted" him to; I mean, if I had more time, I would've been happy to slowly draw in all the details and whatnot at my own pace. But that's exactly it; I don't have the time. I draw too slow, and I still have another picture to start on, and our portfolios are due in two days. Then again, I guess I can't really give Dad all the credit. It's probably split in half; this is a merge of our efforts. He did a quick coloring of where certain shadows and highlights were, and in class, I went back over them, and added all the in between shades and smoothed it out. I don't know what I'm trying to say; I don't want to justify it -- I would love nothing more than to be able to complete a picture that Dad couldn't find anything to fix -- but I'm just on a tight schedule right now, you know? :\

Also, DAD GAVE MY BABYGIRL A HITLER MUSTACHE. ;O; I ERASED IT AS MUCH AS I COULD WHEN HE WENT INSIDE.

We finally watched Harry Potter. (`: And while I can't say it was as amazing as I hoped it to be, or that it did the book justice, I could definitely appreciate the improvements in editing and special effects and acting, of course.

We went to eat at Johnny Rockets afterwards.

Let it be known that I absolutely abhor this picture; somehow I always manage to find new levels of looking shitty on camera, but this is the only picture Naomi's in (this is the first time I've seen her since we watched Dark Knight last year!), and so I feel obligated to include it lol.

Opening shift again; during one of my "breaks" I went to the roof, since they finally opened it up again a few weeks ago, and I haven't been up there since summer of last year. ... And none of this is really significant in any way, but. Yeah.

I was talking to Ines, and apparently Katie's in training for that supervisor position that opened up when Daria left, which surprised me, since, I mean, I've seen her hanging around in the office a lot, but I never knew it was cuhs she had applied for the position. Kathy straight up told me she had hours for office work, so I pretty much assumed she got it, but no, apparently there are a lot of people in training or something.

Went back to volunteer for Dr. Mao again today, and they pretty much had me doing the same thing as last week. Saw this image in one of the cases, and I thought it bore a striking resemblance to Snoopy hahah.

... And when we were leaving, some guy parked his truck in front of Andy's car. And yeah, we had to wait for him to come back and move it, which was annoying.

Thursday, July 23, 2009

So I had my follow-up appointment at the optometrist's today at 2:30pm, but Dad was also supposed to come over and help me with art at 3:00, so we figured we'd go to the appointment a little earlier and get home a little earlier. Only we didn't realize they apparently had a lunch break from, what, 12-2:30? So Mom and I went over and got some coffee from McDonalds. I said to get the medium size, but she insisted on the larges. Which, we didn't finish, btw. Also, the optometrist people were 5 minutes late coming back.

Managed to get a decent shot of the still life this time around.

So I was really lazy and Dad pretty much helped me shape out everything on this picture lol. Whatever; this is what I got done coloring in class. ... Which really isn't a lot, but asdf, I'm a really slow drawer. Pretty pleased with how the doll face is coming along though. (:

... And I still haven't even finish my boots picture asdf. Gotta get on that.

Andy is a douche. I've spent all summer looking for these books and today Riaz returned them. Also, Ellie dropped off a huge bag carrying five or so books, and a few hours later, Riju dropped off five or so more. Andy, of course, does not recall lending out any of these.

Ugh. I feel depressed just looking at all of the incessant little details. I couldn't even get a decent picture of this still life; I took so long finishing the jeans that by the time I switched over to today's display, everyone was crowded so tightly around it, I could only situate myself in the far far back. So it figures that I couldn't really see much and my camera couldn't zoom in close enough. So when the class was over and I went up to get a close up shot of the still life, I got it from the wrong angle. And when I realized that and went up to take a new one, Malone had already turned on the lights and removed that white stand thing in the back.

Sushi at Tampopo again. -.- Dammit, Mom, we're supposed to be dieting and cutting back on spending, but we're doing neither! That was some good sushi, though.

Onto color media in art ~ we're drawing jeans today; Ms. Malone set up pants and a vest on the wall for us, and I was debating which one looked easier, and I figured the jean pants had less detail lol.

... Also I'm kind of annoyed, cuhs the teacher said we would be using our gray paper today, so I brought the gray paper. And nothing else. And then we go and don't use our gray paper. So I had to borrow a sheet from that Kevin guy (see above). Meh. On a more optimistic note, my jeans don't look half bad. (:

Monday, July 20, 2009

So last night I kind of cut up my white YMCA shirt, which I was never going to wear again, since it was so small. I started off my cutting the collar, and that was kind of fun, so I cut up the sleeves too, and next thing you know, I'm looking up DIY t-shirt transformations, which led me to this book LOL. Picked it up this morning at Borders hahah.

I think I might just be getting good at drawing. 8D Srsly, I got no help at all on this!

All that subway's really made me start to like avocados lol.

Sunday, July 19, 2009

So today was my first time going to church in a while, since I've been either working over oversleeping the past few weeks, and naturally, I drew all over my program. It helps me stay awake and listen lol.

We had Round 2 of our Restaurant Outing thing; I sent Jen and Tiffany a list of restaurants, and I was trying to include a wider variety of foods, like Mediterranean and Hawaiian and stuff, but go figure Jen opts for the Sushi place lol. But it was really close so I didn't mind. Tiffany and I just biked over.

There weren't any bike racks or anything, so I tied my pick to a water pipe, and Tiffany tied hers to a tree lolol.

It was a pretty small place but it seemed nice enough; it was just the guy and his wife running the place.

I got that ~

... And that's what Tiffany got ~ Her picture turned out so much nicer than mine lol. The food was pretty good, but nothing spectacular. Also, the water tasted kind of funny, but I think I'm the only one who noticed anything.

Aaaaah! ♥ This wasn't supposed to arrive until the 23rd! 5 stars rating fer suuuuuure. *_____*

... And my proofs have arrived. And they're all asdf. D8 Why can't I take a nice picture when it actually matteeeeers. I'll probably go for the third on the right in the middle row for my yearbook picture.

My optometrist appointment was today, since I'm running out of contacts, and I'm due for a check up anyway. My prescription essentially stayed the same, but the doctor gave me a slightly different contact that apparently allows more oxygen to certain areas of my eye.

Aaaand then Mom and I stopped for yogurt and cake on the way back because we are fatasses and that is what we do. ♥ I got the Blueberry Mousse, which was just meh, but hey, it looked pretty.
